William “Bill” Hinton, age, 79, of Orland Park, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family after a battle with esophageal cancer. Beloved husband of Mary Kay (nee Toomey) for 47 years. Loving father of Lauren (Andrew) Wilson, John and Catherine. Devoted grandfather of Jeffrey and Abigail. Dear brother of Eleanor Mohr. Cherished son of the late William and Helen (nee Korjenek) Hinton. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Retired Chicago Police Detective after 33 years of service in Old Area 3 and Area 2 Property Crimes. Army Vietnam War Veteran. Visitation Monday, January 15, 2024, 4pm to 7pm continuing on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, 9:30am until time of Chapel 10am. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Bill was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman and a proud member of F.F.F. (Fin, Feather, and Fur). Eugene “Chip” Francis Staples, Jr., age 79, born into eternal life on January 10, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Mary Ann Therese (nee Titei); loving father of Todd Kenneth Staples, Melissa Archene Staples (retired CPD) (Melissa Ryan CPD), and Marcus Ronald Staples (Eric Siedschlag); proud grandfather of Drue Tomas Staples; dear brother of David Lance Staples, Tad Richard Staples and Jill Archene Mecessyne (nee Staples). Alumni of Main East H.S. in Park Ridge, IL and later moved to Cedar Lake, IN where he married and started a family. He was a volunteer fireman in Cedar Lake for 16 years and a member of the American Legion Post # 261 in Cedar Lake. Chip was employed as a driver for various building and automotive supply companies and loved everything automotive. He also had a huge heart for animals and cared for many throughout his life. Friends and family will gather Saturday, January 13th, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Avenue, Cedar Lake, IN. Interment to follow at German Methodist Cemetery in Cedar Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made in Chip’s memory may be made to Treasured Friends Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 9234, Highland, IN 46322.
