John Gorman Sr. 84, lifelong Canaryville resident. Beloved husband of Linda nee Taylor; past 4th degree member of Madonna KOC #1135. Associate member of Canaryville Veterans Associate, and member of Local #597 Pipefitters Union for 30 years. Loving father of John Gorman, CPD (Catherine), Arthur Gorman, CPD (Jessica Schremp), Andrew Ouimette, Daniel Ouimette, John McAvoy, Lynn (Daivd) Gusich, Jeanne (Richard) Johnston, and JoAnne McAvoy; cherished grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of 1, Maddie. Loving son of the late Adeline and John Gorman; brother of the late Joe and Rosemary Gorman; late Marion and Bill Whirity, late Margaret and Tom Malloy, and Jackie and the late Rich Frawley; loving uncle of many nieces and nephews, and best friend to all that knew him. The family will receive friends at St. Gabriel Church, 600 W. 45th St., Chicago on Friday, November 24, 2023 from 9 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private for the family. CHICAGO GIVES TOY DRIVE 2023!

The Special Activities Section of The Office of Community Policing is organizing the annual Chicago Gives Toy Drive. We are requesting that each District participate by giving at least 5 unwrapped gifts and each Unit participate by giving at least 1 unwrapped gift. Gifts should be for ages infant to 14 years old. Please help us make the holiday brighter for children in need. Last year, The Chicago Police Department donated approximately 1,000 gifts to Domestic Violence Shelters across the city. Please deliver your donations to the Special Activities Section, 4th Floor, SW of Public Safety Headquarters no later than 1500 hours on 07 December 2023. The Gold Star Family Members and Fallen Officer Family Members will be wrapping your gifts on Friday, 08 December 2023 in the Headquarters Multi-Purpose Room.
