James Patrick Ryan, Jr..jfif

James Patrick Ryan, Jr., age 86, of Apple Canyon Lake, formerly of Chicago, IL passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at home. He was born in Chicago on November 24, 1936 to the late James Patrick Ryan, Sr. and Rose Adele Conroy. James married Patricia and together they had four children. He later married Janice on September 14, 1996. James graduated from De La Salle institute in Chicago. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton and the Fraternal Order of Police in Chicago. James served in the United States Army. He retired from the Chicago Police Department after 35 years. During that time he served as a body guard for Mayor Jane Byrnes and as a security officer for many rock concerts. He also walked the beat on Halsted Street. In his younger years, he did side work as a concrete contractor. James enjoyed fishing, reading, watching old cop shows, playing trombone and dancing. He also loved spending time with his family and his dogs. He is survived by his wife, Janice Ryan; the mother of his children, Patricia Ryan; his sons, Kevin (Nadine) Ryan and Martin Ryan; his daughters, Lisa Karas And Sue Zaleski; his step children, Jenna (Chase) Bachar, Jason (Allison) Doran and Jesse (Josette) Doran; his grandchildren, Lillian, Dustin, Patrick, Devin, Max, Jill, Jack, Maddie, Kelly, Nicole, Marty Jr., Emme, Eli, Noah, Ava, Quinn and Elsie; and his numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leonard; and his sister, Barbara. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton at 12:00 p.m with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. A memorial fund has been established.
