Alan "Al" James Adamski, age 76, longtime resident of Downers Grove, formerly of Chicago, passed away March 24. He was a retired Chicago policeman and later Whittier School crossing guard. Al is survived by his loving family: wife Lois, nee Rateike, Adamski; son, Alan Jr. (Michelle) Adamski; daughter, Terri (Ivan) Matsunaga; daughter, JoAnn Adamski; brothers: Bill (Donna) and Rich (Rose) Adamski; sister-in-law, Edie Adamski; Dzia Dzia to four grandchildren: Madilyn, William, Tyler, and Matthew; also many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Casimir and Helen, nee Kokes, Adamski; and brother Tom Adamski. Visitation Saturday, April 1st, 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service, 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5211 Carpenter Street, Downers Grove, Illinois 60515. There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Chicago Vietnam Veterans memorial on the South side of Lower Wacker Drive and Wabash Ave., at approx. 0900 hrs. All are welcome to join with the VFW, American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans of América at the ceremony. It is 50 yrs. since the end of the US Military presence in Vietnam.
