Patrick Joseph Haney, age 80, of Steger, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Beloved husband of the late LaVerne V. Haney. Loving father of Karen Haney. Dear brother of the late Richard (late Virginia) Haney, late Lillian (late Paul) Dandurand, late Norma Lander, late Edward (Brenda) Haney, late Florine (Edward) Shane and late Chuck (Mary Lou) Haney. Cherished uncle of many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Patrick was a part of the Steger Fire Department for 27 years and retired as a Captain. He worked 18 years for the Steger Public Works Department and was known for his abilities to fix anything as a jack of all trades. He enjoyed coin collecting and had amassed a large collection that was meticulously categorized. He loved to fish and enjoyed the yearly trips to Minnesota each year with his friends. Patrick will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation to be held Sunday, January 15, 2023, from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Road, Steger, Illinois, 60475. Funeral Service to be held Monday, January 16, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1393 Elizabeth St, Crete, IL 60417. Interment to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
