Joshua E. Johnson. On Saturday, December 31, 2022, Joshua Johnson died unexpectedly during a prolonged hospitalization. He was 45 years old. Born to Randy and Darlene Johnson on November 12, 1977. He grew up in Elmhurst, graduated from York High School and attended COD. He spent the last twenty years of his life in a wheelchair, but that never slowed him down. He embraced his disability and enjoyed motivating and inspiring others to do the same. Josh had many different jobs, but the one he loved the most was being a 911 dispatcher. He loved the fast-paced action and being the calm voice in the chaos. His co-workers, friends, and family will miss his quick wit, boisterous laugh, and contagious smile. He leaves behind the loves of his life: his wife, Jackie, his daughter, Hannah, and his dog, Tucker. He is survived by his mother, Darlene, his brother, Erik (Jill) Johnson, and their three children: Abigail, Madeline, and Nathaniel. IMPORTANT CHANGES REGARDING MONTHLY AZ. LUNCHEON!

Dear Fellow CPD AZ Retiree’s

I sincerely hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and a very safe and happy New Year. Last month we met for lunch at the Tavern Grille. For those present I shared with them that the EAGLE BUFFET AT CASINO ARIZONA IS NOW OPEN! I spoke to Sally, the food manager there and she indicated the buffet is now open completely and they can accommodate us on the third Wednesday of each month.

She told me there are certain caveats which are in place. She stated everyone must be there in total for us to be seated. There is a time limit of 90 minutes for use to be in the buffet. They will give use the rear room if it is available. The cost is $16.95 per person including beverage. There is tax and tip that will be added on to the charge. At 4:00 PM the cost goes up to $35.95, which will not affect us as we meet at 11:00 AM.

Please make notations on you calendars that we will now meet at Casino Arizona, Eagle Buffet, 524 N. 92nd St, Scottsdale, AZ 85256, the third Wednesday of each month at 11:00 AM. This is right near the 101 and the 202 McKellips exit. The buffet does not open until 11:00 AM. Please try to get there and check in. We will be kept waiting until about 11:10-11:15 when we may all be seated. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Brian DuFour
Retired Chicago Police in AZ.
