Thomas G. Blomstrand, age 78, originally from Chicago, IL having lived full-time the last seventeen years in Goodyear AZ died on the afternoon of Thursday April 21, 2022 in his home, unexpectedly. There will be no visitation planned. Based on the wishes of the deceased no memorial service will be held. The family asks for your prayers and good wishes. Thomas Blomstrand was born in Chicago, IL on May 24, 1943. He was born to John D. Blomstrand and Viola E. Blomstrand. He was a graduate of Senn High School and the Chicago Police Academy. He was married to Cleo L. Blomstrand (Hovermann) of Gladstone, MI in 1968 until her passing in 2010. He lived and worked as a Homicide Detective for the Chicago Police Department, working over forty-years there most of the time in the most violent and dangerous neighborhoods in Chicago. Highly-decorated with several dozen department accommodations, he worked many years from Area 4 Homicide/Violent Crime, before moving to Area 6 HVC. He worked on over 150 police shootings, as well as several thousand homicide and violent crimes cases over the course of his career. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan, a devout Chicago Bears fan, and a prolific stock market investor. After retiring and moving to AZ his work in investments and across the stock market became his main passion. He loved Chicago-style Hot Dogs, Chocolate Milkshakes, and thin-crust sausage and onion pizzas. He was a proud registered Republican. Thomas is preceded in death by John Douglas Blomstrand (father), Viola Elizabeth Blomstrand (McGuire) (mother), Ronald Blomstrand (brother), and Cleo Blomstrand (wife). Thomas is survived by George Blomstrand (brother), John M. Blomstrand (son), Melissa Blomstrand-Diggins (daughter), and Brian Blomstrand (son). He is also survived by grandchildren: Haley Blomstrand, Jordan Blomstrand, Jillian Blomstrand, Cora Diggins, Jax Diggins, Dylan Blomstrand, Brendan Blomstrand and his dog, "Joe". The family appreciates your kind thoughts during this difficult time.

Thomas F. O’Hara, retired CFD, age 85, of Chicago, passed away at his home while surrounded by family on April 25, 2022. George Raymond Pinkowski Jr., age 72. Retired Lt. from the Wilmette Fire Department and also a retired State Fire Marshall. Beloved husband of Nancy nee Winter; loving father of Kristy (Sandie), George R, III (Kari) and Matthew (Julie); dear son-in-law of Ruby. Dear grandfather of Elise, Ilana and Henry. Brother of Karen M (Galen) Smith and David M. (Cindy) Pinkowski. Fond uncle to many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. George was especially close to great-niece Kaitlyn, whom he will miss dearly. George was a talented wood craftsman, flower and tractor enthusiast. George was a hard-working man, who always had multiple side jobs when he wasn’t on duty at the Fire Department. George taught his children to work hard, not to be afraid of trying out new ideas and learning lessons from all of it. George endured a very extensive medical journey, lasting over 40 years. During one of the hardest times, George and his four-legged best friend, Bunker C. (puppy that George rescued from an oil spill) spent every day together and formed an everlasting bond. George will be buried with Bunker’s ashes, so they can remain together forever. At George’s request, he will be laid to rest wearing his Wilmette Fire Department dress uniform. He was very proud of his time at the Fire Department, until an injury forced him to retire after 19 years. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant and enjoyed spending time with his fireman friends at the luncheons. Virginia held the role of PERT Team Leader in Peer Support for many years and has been a Peer since November of 2012. In recognition of more than 31 years of service to the Chicago Police Department, we would like to congratulate Police Officer Virginia Gahan on her retirement.
