Joseph “Joe” DeMay passed away on April 17, 2022. He was 79 years old. Joe DeMay was born in Chicago Illinois, on November 30, 1942 to Joseph and Rita DeMay. He graduated from DeLaSalle High School, then attended Lewis College. Joe began his career at Sears Roebuck & Co, followed by a 40 year career in packaging outside sales. In 1965 he married the love of his life, Diane Marose. Their marriage is an example of patience, partnership and deep enduring love. Together they raised five children, never missing a baseball game, softball game, volleyball game, band concert, school show or 5:30 family dinner. Joe’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Joe’s kindness, love of movies and theater, excitement for travel, enjoyment on the basketball court and enthusiasm for NCAA basketball, the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks will live on with all of them. Joe is survived by his wife Diane (nee Marose) DeMay; children Paul (Dawn) DeMay, Jennifer (Bill) Vincent, Jill (Rob CPD) Shultz, Valerie (Jeff) Jalon, Emily (Mike Ciavarella) DeMay; his eleven grandchildren Lauren, Alison, Melissa, Patrick, Erin, Grace, Mick, Julia, Jenna, Brendan and Evelyn. He was a beloved uncle and father-figure to nieces, nephews, and neighbors, dear brother to his siblings and loved by life-long friends. Daniel Peter Nessling was born on April 3,1946 in Chicago, Illinois and departed this life on April 15, 2022 in West Plains, Missouri. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 32 years, Janet Nessling, with whom he did everything; his children, Sarah Horton and husband Blake, Stephanie Nessling, Elizabeth Nessling, Danny Nessling and wife Stephanie, and Paulette Watne; his loving grandchildren, Kypton, Koltyn, and Annistyn Horton, Mark Vizza and several grandchildren; great grandchildren; his fond brothers, Michael and James Nessling; other relatives; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Elizabeth Nessling; and two brothers, William and Richard Nessling. Dan was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He enjoyed going on cruises with his wife, supporting his daughters in every aspect of their lives, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was soldier in the US Marine Corp, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. Dan was also a retired detective for the Chicago Police Department. Dan obtained a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Lewis University and was an instructor at the Chicago Police Academy. Dan had a huge heart, and took in many children over the years, whom he still loved like his own. He could make anyone laugh with his warm, welcoming spirit. He moved to the country, after spending his life in the city, and finally found his home. Dan cherished his horses, his land, his motorcycle and the peacefulness the country brings.Dan was brave, caring, strong, and loving. We will forever miss and love him. The family with receive friends on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri. Richard S. Turrise, Sr., age 71, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022. He retired from the Chicago Police Department as an FTO after receiving numerous awards and commendations throughout his 29 year service. Preceded in death by his parents Salvatore “Sam” and Philomena (nee Auriemmo), his in-laws James “Andy” and Sarah (nee Pecoraro) Johnston and brother-in-law Michael Johnston. Beloved husband of 50 years to Patricia (nee Johnston). Devoted father to Gina Maze (Eric), CPD Sgt. Richard Jr. (late Michele), and Tina Grassano (Ugo). Cherished Papa to Mia, Sarah, Rosalie, Angelina, Nicolas, Jenna and Eric. Doting doggie daddy to Frankie and the late Bella. Fond brother to Joseph (Renate). Rich was a loving nephew, cousin, uncle and friend to many. Some also knew Rich as Mr. T on the Clear Ridge baseball fields and Lawler Park softball fields coaching his kids. Rich was very active in his children and grandchildren’s lives. He loved to volunteer at his grandkids’ schools whether it was presiding during lunch periods, reading to the class, chaperoning field trips, or whatever the teachers would ask of him. He was always there to drop-off and pick-up his grandkids at school or sports and made friends wherever he went. While serving as a Chicago Police Officer, Rich was a loyal partner and friend to his peers and proud FTO to all he mentored. He was very loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
