Joan Marie Francis (nee Chengary), age 87, late of Chicago, IL and Jacksonville, FL passed away with loving family by her side on December 15, 2024. Beloved wife of the late James R. Francis. Loving mother of Maria (Daniel) Dylla, Diana Francis, JoAnn (Zarko) Cosovic, Debra (Eugene) Gorczynski, James Francis – Retired CPD, Lisa (Steven) Rudnick and Amy (Armin) Francis-Spahic. Devoted grandmother of Jasmina, Adnan, Jakub Spahic, Victoria Francis and 12 other grandchildren. Cherished great-grandmother of 5. Dearest sister of Ace (Sally) Chengary, Alan (Linea) Chengary and late Marion Jovanovich. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Joan was a lifelong member of the East Side community, for many years Joan was President of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Women's Club , member of Sacred Heart Church Altar and Rosary Society, Croatian Fraternal Union, and volunteered for many years for the St. Francis de Sales and Sacred Heart Parishes. Joan's genuine smile and laughter created excitement and happiness to anyone she met. Visitation Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services Monday, December 23, 2024 at 9:15 am from the Elmwood Chapel, 11200 S. Ewing Ave, Chicago to Sacred Heart Croatian Catholic Church for mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am. Interment St. John Cemetery, Hammond, Indiana. In lieu of flowers memorials contributions to American Heart Association preferred. For more information 773-731-2749.

Philip John Meagher, Beloved husband of Marie-Elena, nee Mazzuca; cherished father of Paul (Linda) and Alaina (Brian) Papacek; loving grandpa of Elena, Brett, Bella, Joseph and Thomas; dear brother-in-law of Pamela (Arthur) Palenscar and the late Salvatore (Margaret) Mazzuca; dearest cousin and uncle to many. Proud US Army Vietnam Veteran, member of American Legion Post 187, Knights of Columbus Council 537. Philip was a passionate Bears and Cubs fan. He was a teacher, milk delivery driver, grocery store owner and above all, a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Philip will be missed by all.
