Glenn W. Carlson, 78, of Lake Andes, South Dakota, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully after valiantly fighting battles with cancer on Friday, October 10, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Chicago to the late Ruth (nee Hellgren) and John W. Carlson. Glenn will be missed by his devoted, loving daughter Dr. Joanne Carlson, his granddaughters Theresa, Julia, and grandson Jonathan. He is the brother of the late John (the late Marge) Carlson; uncle of Lisa Straulin, his favorite niece and goddaughter and nephew John Carlson; special friend of Louie Kipta and the Kipta family; and his beloved chocolate lab Coco. Glenn graduated from the Chicago Police Academy in 1981 and was proud to become a patrolman in the 23rd District, which is the Wrigleyville area. Glenn worked off duty security at Soldier Field and was assigned to watch the opposing coach, on and off the fields, during Bears games. He then was promoted to the tactical team and was responsible for narcotics and gang related activities. He retired as a Detective for property crime in Area 4 and was proud to serve and protect the people of Chicago. He then relocated to his dream home of Lake Andes, South Dakota. A memorial celebration of Glenn’s life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a service at 3:00 pm at the Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Rd., Rolling Meadows. Kevin Walsh of Chicago’s South Side, age 45. Beloved husband of Dena, nee Johnson; loving father of Elizabeth and Andrew Walsh; devoted son of the late Daniel and the late Rita Jane (nee Neidhart) Walsh; dear brother of Daniel (Therese), Matthew, John CFD (Margaret), Michael CFD (Michelle), Joseph CFD (Marianne) Walsh and Mary Rita (John) Riordan; fond uncle of Ellie, Bobby (Claire), Megan, Matt (Anna), Mary Cate, Mary Therese, Madison, Maeve, Brendan (Megan), Mary Heather (Austin), Rita (Dave), Drew, Dan, Jack and Joey Walsh; Danny and John Riordan; granduncle of Janie Walsh. Dear son-in-law of Steven (Mary, nee Kohl) Johnson and Denise (Gervasi) Sampson; brother-in-law of Steven (Angela) Johnson, Joshua (Kodie) Johnson and Anna (Travis) Sullivan; uncle of Fellow Chicago Bears Fans Jacob and Connor Johnson; Kohl and Vaeda Johnson and Logan, Leo and Rhodes Sullivan. Dear friend to many. Kevin was a graduate of St. John Fisher ‘94, Mt. Carmel High School ’98; Boston College ‘02 and earned his MBA in Finance/Economics at University of Chicago, Booth School of Business ‘10. He earned his CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation and enjoyed his work in finance at Northern Trust Bank. While at Mt. Carmel, he played football and rugby and was a 2-year boxing champion. He played four years of rugby while at Boston College. Excluding the Cubs, Kevin loved all Chicago sports teams especially the White Sox and Bears. Kevin was easygoing and kindhearted, unless you dared to skip your place in line, questioned his music or crossed one of his children. Family and friends will be received at St. Barnabas Church, 10134 S. Longwood Dr., Chicago on Sunday, October 26, 2025, for a Memorial Visitation from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church. Interment private.
