James R. Eldridge Jr., known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 81 in Crest Hill, IL. Born on May 23, 1944, in Chicago, IL, Jim led a full and meaningful life, deeply rooted in his love for his family and his faith. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Eldridge nee Coomer, and their devoted children: son James (Cyndi) Eldridge, son Mark (April) Eldridge, and daughter Nancy (Terry) Arndt. His life was further enriched by the joy of his eight grandchildren, Amanda (Eddie) Daly, Jimmy (Lauren) Eldridge, Cassie (Garrett) Jones , Taylor Towe, Kayla (Ryan) DalCorobbo, Haylie (Noah) Masa, Jordan (Bradley) Dubow, and Nicole Eldridge. Jim was also a proud great-grandfather to nine great-grandchildren who will miss his wisdom and warmth. Predeceased by his siblings, Doris Kolke, Carol (Bill) Macke, and Robert (Mary) Eldridge, and his parents, James Eldridge Sr. and Vyrinda Eldridge. Jim's career in law enforcement began in October 1972 when he joined the Chicago Police Force. His commitment to justice and community service saw him rise through the ranks to become a Detective, Sergeant, and Gang Sergeant. His dedication to making a difference didn't stop there; Jim was also a Licensed Private Detective, which allowed him to continue serving the public in a different capacity. His work ethic was unmatched, as evidenced by his time spent as a milkman and real estate agent, professions through which he left a lasting impression on all those he encountered. A devout Christian, Jim's faith was a guiding light in his life, providing comfort, strength, and purpose. He lived his beliefs through his actions, and his faith-filled nature was evident to all who knew him. Jim's interests were as diverse as his career path. He was an avid golfer, finding solace and joy in the game. His love for his wife, children, and late dog, Cujo, knew no bounds. Jim also had a passion for reading, which allowed him to explore worlds beyond his own and contributed to his reputation as a wise and knowledgeable man. Those who had the privilege of knowing Jim will remember him as a wise, loving, and faith-filled man. His ability to listen, advise, and guide with a gentle hand was a gift to his family and friends. Jim's impact on his community and loved one's will be felt for generations to come. We bid farewell to a man who embodied the virtues of love, wisdom, and faith in every aspect of his life. Jim's legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be a beacon of light for all who seek to lead a life of service, love, and faith. As we reflect on Jim's life, we are reminded of the beauty of a life well-lived life that was not without challenges, but one that was always approached with courage, dignity, and a deep love for others. Jim will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to guide us, just as the memories of his love and wisdom will continue to inspire us. Alan T. Kulovitz, 78, of Orland Park, passed away on Friday, July 11th, 2025. Alan was the cherished husband of Lydia (nee Jones), with whom he shared 32 years of love and partnership. He was a devoted father of his two daughters, Nicole and Michelle Kulovitz. Alan was preceded in passing by his beloved mother, Mildred. He was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews, and a dear cousin to many. Alan is an Air Force veteran and dedicated his life to serving his community, retiring after 30 years, with honor as a Lieutenant with Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department. Alan was a founding member of the Illinois Tactical Officers Association (ITOA), where he worked tirelessly to support officers. He was also a proud graduate of the FBI National Academy, 169th session. His hobbies were shooting and photography and was a Master Blaster at the Second Chance pin shoot. Alan’s legacy of service, love and strength will live on in all who knew him. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 15, from the hours 2:00pm until 8:00pm, at Brady-Gill Funeral Home, 16600 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th from the hours 9:30am until the Funeral Service at 11:00am, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6850 W 159th St, Tinley Park, IL 60477. Kevin G. Taylor, 71(Ret. CPD), of Wheeling, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 11, 2025. Born in Chicago, Kevin dedicated 32 years of his life to the Chicago Police Department, serving his city with honor, strength, and unwavering dedication. He was a protector in every sense of the word-steadfast in his commitment to both his community and his family. Kevin was a devoted husband to and survived by his wife, Christina (nee Szpila), father of James Taylor (Bridgette), Nick Taylor (Beth), and Kimberly McMillan (Charro), loving Papa to Christopher, Norah, Kevin, William, Kyleigh, Aidan, Oliver, and Serenity, adoring brother to Margaret Grant, Deborah Rose (Hank), Kathleen Taylor, Joanne Gorecki (David), and Julie Taylor (Mike Stanley) and brother-in-law Bruce Becker. As well as Uncle to the many wonderful nieces and nephews they brought into his life, too many to count he would always joke. He was a cherished friend to many. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dorothy Taylor; his sisters, Barbara Becker and Janis Taylor; and his brother-in-law, Ken Grant. Those who knew Kevin will remember his quiet strength, gentle heart, and unwavering love for his family. He led with calm conviction, had a deep sense of duty, and always placed others before himself. Whether in uniform or at home, he brought peace and steadiness to those around him. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th from 3-8 PM with a service at 7 PM at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home 6150 N. Cicero Ave. Chicago, IL 60646. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Kevin’s memory to Mended Little Hearts of Chicago, an organization close to the family’s heart.
