The Wills for Heroes Foundation and the Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section (YLS) is proud to support the Wills for Heroes program. Wills for Heroes is a free and easy service that provides Wills, Health Care and Financial Powers of Attorney to sworn first responders, military veterans, and their spouses/ domestic partners. While nobody likes to think about an untimely death, it is best that you express your wishes through a written document. For your family’s peace of mind, please consider this invaluable opportunity, offered completely free to you and your spouse/ domestic partner. Undoubtedly, your loved ones’ grief will be overwhelming; a clear expression of your intent, desires, and wishes may help ease some of this inevitable burden. Clinics are held on Saturday mornings at Chicago Public Safety Headquarters, 3510 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Each appointment will last approximately 1 – 1.5 hours and at the conclusion, you will have notarized legal documents to take home with you. We do not keep copies of any documents. Appointments will be scheduled hourly beginning at 0900 until 1100 hours. Available dates are: 08 Mar,12 Apr, 12 May 2025.For appointments, send an email to: margarita.llamasodom@exeloncorp.com with the following information: Full Name, Name of Spouse/Domestic Partner (a separate appointment is required), Department Name (e.g., CPD, CFD, USAR), Home Address (required for routine conflicts checks), Phone, Preferred Date and Time. Those registering will receive an estate-planning questionnaire to help participants think through and discuss several important decisions with their loved ones. During the appointment, you will meet with an attorney to review the questionnaire and draw up your will and related documents. If you also schedule for a spouse/domestic partner, each of you must have your own copy of the questionnaire. For more information on this program, please visit the CBA’s website.
