Hosea H. Crossley III, age 77, of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 4th, 1947. When Hosea turned 18 he joined the U.S Navy and later was honorably discharged. On April 23, 1977 he married the late Renita Crossley. Hosea had a career working for the Chicago Police Department. He later would become the Commander of Public Housing, the Chief of Chicago Housing Authority, and retired as the Lieutenant of the 6th district in Chicago. Hosea had a passion for electronics, vitamins, and new investments. He was survived by his children: Steven, Hosea IV, Jasmine, Aliska, and Danielle; his grandchildren: Amoria, Alancia, Ayan, Asuntha, Aerus, Aeriyan, Jide, Hosea V, Tamyra, and Bianka; his great-grandchildren: Amir, Amaru, and Elric; beloved brother to his two sisters, an adored uncle to many nieces and nephews, an enjoyable cousin and friend. Hosea will be memorialized on the 3-year anniversary of the passing of his wife, Renita, Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. Javier “Papi” Salazar, age 67, of South Chicago, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones in his home. Preceded in death by his parents Arnulfo and Teresa. Javier was a dedicated and beloved Husband for 33 years to Olga, loving Father to Antonio Chaidez (Juana), Carmen Guzman (Bobby)). Devoted Grandfather of Brittany, Priscilla, Alexandro, Robert and Carmen. Cherished Great Grandfather of Eli and Mia. Dearest Brother of Daniel (Leticia), Margarita Garcia (Samuel), Cecilia Cervantes (Francisco), Bertha Salazar-Rios, Alicia Ortiz (Martin} and Arnulfo V. Salazar. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Javier was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his extended family. He enjoyed going to parties and would be the first one on the dance floor. His sense of humor will truly be missed along with his infectious laugh and unforgettable smile. He enjoyed his job as IT Administrator for several companies. He retired in August 2023 from Chicago Family Health Center. He had a passion for computers and in his spare time, he fixed computers for family and friends. will truly be missed. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 2:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 9:15 a.m. at Elmwood Chapel 11200 S. The Bagpipes & Drums of the Emerald Society have accepted the invitation from the National Conference of Law Enforcement Emerald Society's and of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Foundation to act as Host Pipe Band for Police Week in Washington DC from 12 - 16 May 2025. The benefit party is to assist in defraying the cost of the trip.
