Gregory (Skip) Paul Breitzke Sr., 74 of Kouts and formerly of Hobart, IN, entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on December 31, 2024. He was born on January 20, 1950 in Valparaiso, IN to Louis and Virginia (Tidey) Breitzke. Greg proudly served in the United States Army in the Vietnam War in the 169th Engineer Battalion – Bravo Company, for two tours and made his career continuing to serve his country and community from Patrolman to Detective Sergeant for the Hobart Police Department for 21 years before retirement. He was a John Deere and Harley-Davidson enthusiast as well as a proud member of the NRA and huge supporter of the Wounded Warriors. He was proud of his family and you could tell his love for them ran deep. His patriotism, dedication, selfless nature, and impact on his community will not soon be forgotten. On January 31, 2012 in Valparaiso, Greg married Bambi Gardner, who survives, along with sons, Gregory (Jenene) Breitzke Jr. of Kouts, IN, Matthew (Lindsey) Breitzke of Broken Arrow, OK, and Mark Gardner of Cedar Lake, IN; 7 grandchildren: Travis, Cassie, Collin, Jace and Stella Breitzke, and Liam and Pierce Gardner; brothers, Stephen (Linda) Breitzke and Michael (Cathy) Breitzke; beloved dog, Sophie; and many loving nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Virginia Breitzke; his wife, Linda (Wells) Breitzke; and brother, Randy Breitzke. A Celebration of Life to be announced at a later date. Private interment to take place at Graceland Cemetery in Kouts in the summer of 2025. Memorial donations can be made in his honor to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Richard A. Dietrich, beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather, passed on January 6, 2025 in Melrose Park, Illinois. He was a devoted husband to the late Barbara (nee Evans) for 51 years. Barbara was his soul mate and best friend. With the love of his life, Richard created a legacy of love, family, and support with their five children - Tina (Rich) Cardenas, Christine (Ken) O'Keefe, Denise (Jay) Corral, Cynthia (Brian) Parks, and Richard (Brenda) Dietrich, Jr. Rick and Barb dedicated their lives to their family. A 30 year veteran of the Chicago Police Department, Rick worked tirelessly to support his family. He proudly followed the lives of all of his grandchildren (Michael, Junior, Lauren, Sarah, Meghan, Edward, Emily, Ivan, Sean, Maxwell, Sawyer, Adam, Alayna, Jessica, Kyle, and Jack) and his ten great-grandchildren. He is also lovingly survived by his siblings John (Sharon) Dietrich and Denise Luechtefeld. A memorial will be held for both Barbara and Richard on Sunday, January 12th from 1 - 4pm with a prayer service immediately following at Bormann Funeral Home in Melrose Park, Illinois. With immense love and heavy hearts, we remember the life of Logan Joseph Perez, who passed away on January 2, 2025, at just four years old. In his short but profoundly meaningful time with us, Logan brought boundless joy, light, and laughter to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Logan was the beloved son of Joseph and Vanessa Perez and the cherished older brother of his sister, Ellie. He shared an unbreakable bond with his family, finding joy and adventure in every moment spent together. A spirited and curious little boy, Logan’s talents and passions shine brightly. He had a natural rhythm that made his love for drumming unmistakable, and his days were often filled with the vibrant worlds of his favorite characters—Spidey, Bluey, and Batman. Logan’s fascination with trucks, especially garbage and monster trucks brought endless excitement to his playtime with his Dad, while trips to the movie theater were treasured outings where he delighted in popcorn and the magic of the big screen. His budding love of books and stories reflected a curious mind and a heart full of wonder. Logan’s courage was as remarkable as his joy. During his two-year battle with leukemia, he faced every challenge with extraordinary strength and resilience, inspiring everyone around him. Despite the hardships, Logan’s radiant smile and infectious laughter never dimmed. Though his time with us was far too brief, Logan’s impact will be felt forever. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and light that will continue to inspire and comfort those who knew and loved him. He inspired his parents to create a foundation in his honor, ensuring his memory will continue to bring hope, joy and comfort to children and families facing similar situations. Born on September 9, 2023, to Taylor Anne Marie and Rudy Patrick Vargas, Nola Rose was a beautiful, sweet, silly, smart, curious, adventurous, loving, and happy little girly pop whose presence lit up every room she was in. Her imprint on our hearts is everlasting. We ask that you remember Nola through her radiant dimple smile, contagious laugh, beautiful eyes, and vibrant personality.
