Ann Spremo (née Basta), age 92, late of Hegewisch, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024. Ann was the beloved wife of the late Srpko Spremo and the cherished matriarch of her family. She was the loving and devoted mother of Michael Spremo, Denise (Bill) Ambry, and Steven Spremo (Ret. CPD), who will forever carry her love and lessons in their hearts. Ann was a proud and doting grandmother to Sara, William, and Isabella, who brought her endless joy and smiles. Born with a heart full of compassion, Ann’s kindness knew no bounds. She possessed a serene grace, always going out of her way to help others, and she touched the lives of many. Her warmth and gentle spirit were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. Ann was renowned for her culinary talents, especially her ability to whip up uštipci—a traditional fried dough treat—at a moment’s notice. Friends and family fondly recall how she would joyfully prepare these delightful pastries whenever someone walked through her door, making everyone feel instantly at home. She was preceded in death by her dear brothers, Bob and George Basta, with whom she shared a special bond and many fond memories. Ann was known for her diligence and strong work ethic. Beyond her personal endeavors, she was a beloved friend and neighbor, always ready with a kind word, a hearty laugh, or a helping hand. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024, directly at St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, 18550 Stony Island Ave, Lansing, IL. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 10 a.m., officiated by the Very Reverend Aleksandar Savic. Interment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church are preferred. For more information, please call 773-731-2749. Ann will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be eternal. Elmwood Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
